Jono Spring – Head Coach
Jono is the Head Coach of MLTC, 24 Indoor, as well as local high schools PNGHS, PNBHS and Nga Tawa. Based at MLTC since 2007 Jono has achieved many successes throughout his tennis playing and coaching career including twice making the top 6 finals of Tennis NZ coach of the year.
After guiding many junior and senior players through their tennis pathways over the years, some have gone on to achieve great heights both as players and coaches themselves.
Jono has a a unique perspective on tennis and works hard to create a team environment within a largely individual sport. Jono believes in creating a support network of coaches who are consistent and well educated in tennis as well as a supportive team of players right through the beginner, social and high performance levels.
While Jono does a considerable portion of the coaching, he also ensures that the entrie coaching team all deliver the same message through familiar coaching techniques to ensure consistency from all coaches.
Rebekah Leung Wai – Assistant Tennis Coach
Rebekah has been a long term student of Jono’s coaching programmes beginning 12 years ago. Rebekah has represented the Manawatu at all levels of the game and was awarded most improved senior representative player in 2016. Rebekah has been working as an assistant coach for 2 years and has developed into a confident and independent deliverer of technical tennis skills. Rebekah is continuing her study in tennis coaching and works at a number of venues that the team deliver to.
Matt Ward – Assistant Tennis Coach
Matt has had a 12 year history as a local top level tennis player with representative duties both as a junior and a senior player.
